Learn more →Why This Sales Manager Template Works
A Sales Manager resume has to organize revenue ownership, team leadership, pipeline management, forecasting, and CRM use without burying the numbers. This structure keeps the page readable for ATS parsing while giving recruiters a clear path from summary to sales results, territory scope, quota performance, and coaching responsibilities.
Readable ATS Formatting
Simple headings, standard contact details, and a single-column layout reduce the risk of CRM tools, quota figures, and sales titles being misread during parsing. The format avoids graphics, text boxes, and unusual tables, so sections like experience, skills, certifications, and education remain easy to extract.
Clear Sales Hierarchy
The order moves from a concise sales leadership summary into core skills, then detailed experience with revenue scope, team size, territory, and account segments. A recruiter can quickly separate strategic sales management from individual contributor work, which matters for roles covering forecasting, coaching, hiring, and pipeline reviews.
Natural Keyword Placement
Skills and experience sections give room for terms such as sales management, CRM, pipeline management, revenue forecasting, account management, quota attainment, lead generation, negotiation, and team coaching. Placing these words inside real bullets and skill groups keeps the resume readable instead of turning it into a pasted keyword list.
Sales Results With Context
The bullet structure connects outcomes to the work behind them, such as growing territory revenue, improving forecast accuracy, increasing quota attainment, shortening sales cycles, or coaching representatives toward better conversion. Each achievement can include account type, deal size, region, team size, or CRM reporting details so the numbers have useful context.
What to Include in This Resume
A sales manager resume should connect revenue ownership with team coaching, pipeline discipline, forecasting accuracy, and CRM-based reporting. Use each section to show how you manage quotas, improve rep performance, protect deal quality, and turn sales activity into measurable revenue outcomes.
| Section | What to write | What to avoid | Example |
|---|---|---|---|
| Professional Summary | Summarize sales leadership scope, team size, market segment, pipeline ownership, coaching approach, and one measurable revenue, win rate, or forecast accuracy improvement. | Avoid vague leadership claims, personal motivation statements, or summaries that read like an individual contributor sales profile. | Sales Manager with 7+ years of experience leading B2B account executives across pipeline management, territory planning, deal coaching, and revenue forecasting. Increased quarterly attainment from 82% to 108% by improving CRM hygiene, weekly pipeline reviews, and rep coaching cadence. |
| Areas of Expertise | List sales management strengths that match the role, including forecasting, coaching, quota planning, pipeline inspection, territory strategy, CRM governance, and performance reporting. | Avoid generic soft skills, broad business terms, or keyword lists that omit quota, pipeline, coaching, and sales process ownership. | Sales Forecasting, Pipeline Management, Team Coaching, Territory Planning, Quota Attainment, Deal Review, CRM Data Hygiene, Revenue Reporting, Sales Process Optimization |
| Technical Proficiencies | Include CRM, forecasting, sales engagement, conversation intelligence, reporting, and productivity tools used to manage reps, deals, activities, and revenue performance. | Avoid listing unrelated office software only, outdated systems without context, or tools you cannot discuss in a sales leadership interview. | Salesforce, HubSpot CRM, Microsoft Excel, Power BI, Gong, Clari, Outreach, Salesloft, LinkedIn Sales Navigator |
| Professional Experience | Write bullets around team leadership, quota ownership, pipeline reviews, forecasting, rep development, cross-functional work, CRM adoption, and measurable sales outcomes. | Avoid task-only bullets such as managed sales team or handled accounts without revenue scope, team size, tools, or outcome. | Sales Manager, Meridian Software Group. Led 9 account executives across mid-market SaaS accounts, improving quarterly revenue attainment from 89% to 112% through structured deal reviews and Salesforce pipeline inspection. Built a coaching scorecard using Gong call themes and stage conversion data, reducing stalled opportunities by 18% in two quarters. |
| Earlier Roles | Include earlier sales roles that show progression into management, such as account executive, sales development lead, territory manager, or inside sales supervisor. | Avoid detailed older bullets unless they explain promotion path, quota performance, sales specialization, or leadership readiness. | Senior Account Executive, Northline Business Systems, 2018 to 2020 |
| Education | Add degree details and relevant business, marketing, analytics, finance, or communication coursework if it supports sales planning, reporting, or leadership responsibilities. | Avoid overstating education if your sales leadership record, quota ownership, and management outcomes carry the resume. | Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, University of Arizona, 2017. Coursework in Sales Management, Business Analytics, and Managerial Finance. |
| Certifications | Include sales methodology, CRM, coaching, revenue operations, or management training that supports pipeline discipline, forecasting, negotiation, and rep development. | Avoid expired, unrelated, or entry-level certificates that do not connect to sales leadership, CRM reporting, or revenue management. | Salesforce Sales Representative Certification, HubSpot Sales Software Certification, Sandler Sales Management Training, MEDDICC Sales Methodology Training |
Quick tip: Anchor the resume in quota ownership, team performance, CRM discipline, and measurable improvements across pipeline, forecasting, and revenue execution.
